<body-html>
The village

Lansargues is one of the most auhentic villages in the region with a very unique atmosphere. With just under 3,000 “Lansarguois”, the town has confined modern constructions to its outskirts while fiercely protecting its historical district. Several of the buildings located in the town centre(including our property) are protected by the Batiments de France.

Proud of its traditions including bull raising and racing (but no killing here!!), Lansargues has even earned the cute nickname of the “Asterix village” in a region which has seen huge changes with the economic and demographic growth of the past twenty years. Yet the village does not live only on its glorious past but enjoys full amenities: kindergarten elementary and secondary schools, a post office, a public library, a cinema theater, sports facilities and teams, two bakeries, two epiceries, a small market for fresh produce every Tuesday and Thursday…and of course a very popular cafe and brasserie which serves as a hub for the town’s social life.

You can learn more about Lansargues (in French) here

Montpellier

Lansargues is situated 20 minutes east of Montpellier, the capital of Languedoc Roussillon, which can also be reached with public bus transportation. Montpellier is known in France as the “city where the sun never sets” because of its exponential growth over the past twenty years, vibrant atmosphere with one in four inhabitants being a university student, international music and cinema festivals as well as conferences throughout the year and every amenity you can expect from a city of 250,000. With its international airport (Easyjet and Ryanair fly year-round, BA during the summer) and high speed train station (Paris is only 3 hours away with the TGV), the city serves a regional hub on the Mediterranean coast between Marseille (150km) and Barcelona (350km).

You can see some beautiful pics of Montpellier and the area here

The region

But our region has much more to offer than authentic Lansargues and vibrant Montpellier. Languedoc Roussillon boasts a wide variety of splendid sceneries and attractions, many of which are less than an hour away from our home:
In need of sun tanning or just a good swim ? The golden sandy beaches of La Grande Motte and Carnon are just a 15 mn drive.
Fancy some skiing and unspoilt nature? the Cévennes and Lozere region are 45 minutes away and if the slopes are not steep enough for you, the Pyrenees may be a good alternative for your winter weekends.

Quenching your thirst shouldn’t be a problem with the vineyards surrounding Lansargues (which has its own wine l’Enclos de la Croix) and the region has now overcome its reputation for cheap “vin de table” with some up and coming appelations(Saint Chinian, Faugères, Pic Saint Loup…).
Feel more like a lonesome cowboy? The natural park of Camargue, with its pink flamingos, bull farm ranches, horse riding on unspoilt beaches should be suited to your liking.

Visiting historical sites monuments will also take quite a bit of your time: the roman aqueduct of Pont du Gard, the Canal du Midi, the city of Carcassonne (the biggest medieval fortified town) in Europe, the abbey of St Guilhem le Désert and the fortified town of Aigues Mortes.
And Provence is never that far away with a one hour drive to Avignon and its world famous summer festival, Les Baux-de-Provence, Arles and Aix en Provence.

With so many outdoor options available and nearly three hundred days of sunshine a year, sparing the time to enjoy life in our wonderful property could be a struggle…
